      I
Are you guys talking about the end mill screaming? If your.hanging a 3/8th em out 2.5" it's gonna chatter. I think i'll be going pretty slow with small z steps to fight chatter.

Are you guys just drilling out the selector hole and trigger pin holes? I would.think that for the trigger pin especially you would want to ream it?

Shouldn't be getting a bunch of chatter there. Might try increasing the feedrate and reducing the Z step. Good tooling helps also..... Jabro makes nice endmills for this kind of work.

I bought undersized drill bits and chuck reamers for final finish.

I'll play with some numbers next time. And I'll record the process for everybody.

So I milled out my first 80% and I have to say it was a piece of cake. I bought spares expecting to scrap one (always have spares right) but I nailed it the first time.

To answer my own original questions, it took me one SU for the side holes and one for the pocketing op. I may or may not go back and engrave the sides, I have not yet decided. To locate, spot, drill, and ream the side holes took me about 20 minutes. The pocketing cycle was about 15 minutes but my feed and speed was pretty low and my z steps were small. I could definetly get that time down but 35 minutes is well within my threshold of pain.

              Now for the finish.....
