Experimental East German

This is my first time building on a virgin barrel and so far it has been very fun.. Wish I had done my other barrels myself.

Head spaced, RSB drilled and pinned, HG retainer cut and ready. Just need my FSB GB combo...


I have a very rare experimental East german top cover for this build... should be pretty sweet.

Interesting top cover. I see quite a few such East german gadgets for sale, they experimented a lot. In fact, I just ordered their version of the night sights for AK. It's not really night sights, but they glow after being exposed to light.

Has anyone seen the top cover in the OP for sale anywhere, or is it just one's luck to get it in the parts kit?

well I got impatient waiting for parts to come so I just decided to build the east german with the normal parts kit that came with the kit. Funny thing is the day I decided to just go on with the build was the day some of my parts showed up after 6 weeks lol. Ill use them down the road I'm sure but I must say I really REALLY love the quality of the east german parts. They had the smoothest finished and finest machine work. I also noticed my sight leaf had some field modified night sights or maybe just for better aquisition. That kind of modification made by its owner in E germany really tickles my pickle and gives it a lot of personality.


This was my first virgin barrel and it came out great. There were a few casualties though. Either this vice was crappy or I am superman.

Finished, just needs a t group, and a blueing, Love these E germans, might have to buy another one...
