    Saiga Conversion Issue

I recently took my newly converted Saiga to the range and noticied the pin (see pic) was creeping out after every shot. The gun shoots fine but I have to push the pin back after a few shots. I tried tapping the pin, but this is as far as it goes. What am I doing wroing here?

I thought those pins are crushed on the regular saigas. sort of like a giant rivet. i don't know much about AK conversions but could there be the possibility of the wrong pin being installed in that spot? or does the pin have some groove for circlip or hole for cotter pin to hold it in place?

I believe this is the right direction but i am curious if the retainer is installed but not into the notch of the pin.

i.e. The pin wasn't all the way inserted when the retainer was installed.

This would explain why tapping on it (larger left side) would not allow it to go further into the receiver, and would also explain why the pin is walking out.

          Suggestion:
Remove the top cover, recoil spring, and carrier.
Remove safety, and retaining bracket/ shepperd's crook.
Does the pin go all the way in now?

you need to install a FCG retaining plate...they are about $5.00 and hook into the little grooves in the pins, then the safety goes through the last hole to hold it all together.
Red Star Arms Retaining Plate replaces 'Shepherd's Hook.' Locks hammer & trigger pins. Fits most AKs. USA steel.

            theres a link

That's your FCG hammer axis pin. It need either an e-clip (cheap method) like this:

              Or a retainer plate: http://www.ak-builder.com/index.php?...oduct_id=29836

I think this is the problem. I will try the suggestion, thanks.
