I have a SIG Sauer P220R .45ACP, the serial number puts it in (roughly) the early 2000's, for a manufacturing time frame. I think I'm either the 3rd or 4th owner.
Presumably, the trigger has never had any work, it has a fairly heavy pull. I'm looking into lightening it up. I have seen a replacement trigger assembly that I believe is called a "short trigger" or something to that effect. I don't think that's what I'm after. I have no idea what the current "pounds" of pull is and I'm equally clueless as to the weight I'm after.
Comparatively, I did shoot a (very friendly) fellow Calgunners 1911, that had a VERY light trigger. Don't remember what the weight of pull was, but it was probably over the line, for me. Although, it shot beautifully and my accuracy improved dramatically. Sweet gun, no doubt about it.
So... I'm looking for info about figuring out the current weight of pull... what I should consider for the goal weight and wether or not to do the work, myself. Never done trigger work, but I'm good with delicate repairs, in impossibly tight spaces.
I would have asked on the SIG Forum, but it's been over 2 weeks and my membership has not yet been approved.
