    FSB installation

I ordered a new FSB from Midway for a .625 barrell. Unfortunately it did not come with taper pin holes. What am I missing here? Am I supposed to drill holes?

Yes. Bust out your finest measuring device and figure where you need to drill so the pin is 50% into the barrel surface when installed.

FSB has no holes. Seems like they should be drilled as a set. Otherwise how would you know where to drill on the FSB?

Randal will be here shortly to show you the jig used to set the FSB for drilling it is to be done while on the barrel (unless he is tired of posting it). I thought about it once then decided it was easier to just buy barrels with them installed.

The barrel already has holes as it had an FSB installed. I cut the posts off when I was running a scope and now I regret it. If it were a standard .750 barrel it would be very easy to find a used FSB w/holes and pins. Since it's .625, things are slightly more complicated.

Even if you had a .750 barrel the chances of a FSB matching are slim. They are drilled on the barrel at the same time. Even from the same company there is no guarantee they would line up.

So what is one supposed to do? Never run a standard FSB again? Seems odd.

Get a clamp-on flip up front sight.
Or sell the barrel and buy something else.
There's no standardization of pin hole location.
Barrels and sights are drilled as a mated pair.
