Removing rust on my 870?

Hey there. My Remington 870 HD shotgun has some rusting from where it was under the bed and I was wondering how to remove it? It isn't spreading and it's not damaging the gun, but I'd rather just clean it up. It's a bunch of little spots.

That weapon has a matte finish and needs to be kept oiled. Wipe it down with oil and rub hard on the spots. They should come off. Keeping a light coat of oil on the weapon and keeping it from laying on carpet with end this problem. Leave it standing upright in the closet with nothing touching it. Carpet keeps moisture from the air on the weapon and caused that rust. Also, make sure you wipe any area where you touched any metal off then apply a light coat of oil. the oils and salt from your skin can cause rust also.

But if you want the short answer. Spray some CLP or Rem Oil on in and give it a quick once over with a cotton cloth. Spraying it once every month or so, then wiping off the excess will give it a nice protective layer.

If its really bad, go with the electrosis stuff. But, you should be fine.

0000 steel wool and gun oil will remove the harder rust, and not ruin the bluing.
