Been trying to remove 5/8" of muzzle shroud on my 7.62x39 rifle for a muzzle flash suppressor. Using pipe cutter and jewelers saw. Got down to what I think the thickness of the shroud is. Tried to twist off with vice grips and no luck. Heated shroud with lighter to soften glue and still no luck. Any suggestions on how to finish removing.

There are 3 kinds of people in this world.
The wise, learn from the mistakes of others.
The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

That's a great tutorial. But I'm going a different rout. If I find there is no threading. I probably will do that. Thanks SJgunguy24.Comment

I think the only way its going to come off is to press the whole FSB off.Been trying to remove 5/8" of muzzle shroud on my 7.62x39 rifle for a muzzle flash suppressor. I think if I was trying to get around pressing the whole front sight base off I would also make some lengthwise cuts in the muzzle shroud. I think that would increase the odds that I could peel the pieces off.Been trying to remove 5/8" of muzzle shroud on my 7.62x39 rifle for a muzzle flash suppressor. Something to think about....
When I remove a sleeve like you are trying to do, I make one side cut, but I am very careful not to cut all the way through so I do not damage the part below. Cut as deep as you can without going all the way through. Then I support the part and take a cold chisel that has been intentionally dulled. I just grind the very tip of the edge off. I Place it in the groove I cut in the sleeve and give it one good hard whack with a hammer. The chisel will act as a wedge and split the sleeve, but will not score the part below. It took a little practice to perfect this technique, but it works very well. The sleeve will split and widen enough to allow it to slide off.Comment
