    CAD file for Lower

Does anyone have availability to or know where to get a STL or other CAD file to assist an acquaintance with an 80% build? They may have access to a CNC machine? Thanks.

cncguns.com has soldworks files for 0% builds from billet, but I have not seen anything CAD wise for just finishing up the last "20%" of a build.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

There are too many variables with different 80%s. If you have access to a CNC machine, just start with solid stock and make it from scratch. Also, tell me when and where so I can get in line!

As noted, CNC Guns has what you need. Also check out Firearm Files if you need anything else.

Thanks everyone. Looks like a 0% build would be just as difficult. Where or what is the best billet chunks of aluminum alloy to use and how much should I expect to pay?

There is A LOT of work to make a 0% into an 80%...

One thing for sure is you have to buy the tool to thread the buffer tube.

Not for those of us with machining centers..... Got a Haas VF2, Haas Super Mini Mill, Vulcan, and a couple of CNC Anilam knee mills. Kinda like a candy store for those that like to make stuff.

Some of the stuff I used to thread on the lathe I now thread on the mill. That's how I'd do the buffer tube hole, super easy.

I started over 30 years ago running a manual lathe, etc - let me tell ya, the CNC stuff makes life a LOT easier.
                      all the best,

You could even thread the buffer tube on an engine lathe to avoid buying the tap.

Oh I know the CNC makes life easier... Most people don't have access to all the good stuff so that's why I tell people 0%-80% is not THAT easy. Haha it cracks me up when people think that taking the 0%-80% is a simple task.. Heck even 80%-100% without a cnc takes a little while. Even then, it's not that easy but not too hard just takes a good amount of time.

                            Nice! The shop I run has an OKK VM7, G&L 450, Mori-Seiki NVD4000, Mori-Seiki NL2000SY, Makino's, Deckel-Mahos, a Yasda YBM950, Mitsui-Seiki VL30-5X, a couple of Mitsubishi wires, a Mits sinker, Flow WMC 4020. Welding, sheet-metal, plating and powder-coating...... and I can't use any of it for fun.

Yupper, I used to run a big shop for a while. Lots of headaches.....

I don't see any of the AR stuff a huge pain. It'd be nice to have a nice big broach for the mag well, or a wire machine. Since JMB was able to make stuff as a blacksmith, I guess I can find a way to cope.

I'll just go ahead and make some tooling.

Good thing there is a cad file for the AR10, right?
