    AK Muzzle Device Suggestion Needed

I've built 40-50 AK pistols over the last 6 yrs., but have only built 4-5 rifles.
I've come up with some pretty unique brakes for the pistols, but never for a rifle.

I'm building a Romy kit and keeping the barrel the std. length with the front sight removed. I had a broken ear AK front sight and used that to make a front sight/gas block combo. (shown in pic below)
Now, i need some suggestions as what to use from the gas block to muzzle.
I DO NOT want to extend the barrel length, so some type of slip over is needed.

I'm not interested in function, just looks. The length I have to work with is 4.340"

    Suggestions???

You'll need to cut the barel down if you want to keep the same overall length but have the brake be effective. If looks is all your after then find some rod and drill, thread, and make it look the way you want it too.
There are 3 kinds of people in this world.
The wise, learn from the mistakes of others.
The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

As mentioned, I don't need it to be a functional brake. Just look decent.
I may resort to making one as you said.

Maybe someone will come up with something.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. Perhaps something like a fake can which attaches over the barrel like this, but in 14x1mm LH thread (bearing in mind you will need enough from the muzzle thread to the FSB/ GB: http://www.spikestactical.com/z/inde...products_id=42

The only thing I know that will do what you're looking for is the Spike's Tactical fake can but I am unsure if it comes in 14x1 LH threading. The threads are at the front so adds maybe 1/4" to overall length but the sleeve comes back over the barrel.
I have one on my .22LR AR. It looks like this>>>

              That's a 16" barrel on that upper.

Spikes doesn't do one in M14x1 LH, that would require some opening of the bore and re-threading. These fake cans are 6.25" long, so you would need 6" of clearance on the barrel to the FSH/GB combo. I don't think there is that much clearance, on a Saiga, so it may require a shorter custom fake can build, based on the Spikes design.

I thought I'd see what a 4.5" fake suppressor would look like. I used a 1-1/2" chrome drain tail piece for the body, 2 large washers and a 14-1LH thread protector. Soldered it all together. Painted it flat black.

It looks a little out of place since the rifle hasn't been painted.

Hmmm, I don't know. Maybe an 1-1/4" diameter body would look better.
                  What do you guys think?

Yeppers. Looks a bit fat for the length IMHO.
                      Perhaps try 1"

Given the short available length, a simulated suppressor would need to be LARGER in diameter - go for a 2" diameter tube...

How about an bulgy 4 piece fake can that has been sleeved to fit? I know theres a guy on AKfiles that sells them but I believe it isn't 4 piece since he has to bore the inside to fit the barrel.

                              Well crap.......
I may just put a 1" pipe on it and call it done.
Nothing is going to look right on it. A brake or flash suppressor would really look lonely out there.

I'm going back to pistol building.
