Romy G muzzle brake removal w/ pics

I'm trying to remove the MB from my Romy G parts kit. Do I turn it to the right to loosen? I've kind of mangled the surface with the vise grips. Here are some photos. Please help. Thanks for your help.

Righty loosey, Lefty tighty. Also push in the plunger pin as you're doing it.

Ok, tried that and it won't budge. I even sprayed some break free in there. I thought there was some trick I didn't know about. I can wait till the build party and let you guys have a crack at it. Thanks.

No way man, I'm not touching that. As they say in Nor Cal., that's hella hard.

Try penetrating oil and leave it for a few days. If not, then try a blow torch. Then finally, carefully cutting it off.

Looks like it's rusted on. One of your pic's is a "tell tale".

I would do what mach said above, penetrating oil, blow torch maybe some vice grips... IDK.

Not common but I have seen it happen often... I've been lucky and not to my kits but others yes..

Well ive got one of these in the mail right now, i guess ill see when it shows up, hopefully its alright, i had planned on using a us slant brake as a 922r part

Well, if you can't get the slant brake, you can use an us made gas piston instead. I am not a big fan of swapping out the mag with us made parts unless you do it to all your ak mags but that's just a pia for some.

my plan was to switch out the gas piston, muzzle brake, fcg, and then the receiver would obviously be us made.....i dont like switching out mag parts either, too easy to make a mistake by picking up the wrong mag.....i had wanted to keep all of the furniture on the rifle all the same, im sure if i do happen to be unlucky and the muzzle brake is rusted on ill find a way to get it off

Do the pistol grip if the MB doesn't work...

Easiest ones to do if I couldn't do one of those, I would do the gas piston. Good luck!!

well i definitely hope i dont have to go through that haha, the kit is supposed to be rated "very good or better" so im hoping for the best

To the OP, get a pair of channel locks and grab the sight base front and back. Make sure the jaws are on the dedent pin and the flat part of the base at the very bottom. Squeeze untill the pin goes in and unscrew the brake. If that doesn't work you'll need to knock the pin closest to the muzzle out.That is the only thing holding the dedent in place. Make sure you catch the spring and clean the hole out really well. If you launch the dedent and spring you can use the spring from a bic lighter and cut the pin from a 5/32" drill bit.
