Hello, I found this online and was wondering...is this safe at all?
http://www.gswagner.com/mosin-nagant/brake/mnbrake.html
With the zillions of muzzle brakes, suppressors, silencers, compensators, etc, that are available as aftermarket parts for rifles and shotguns, I figured a small, 1.5" barrel extension probably wouldn't be TOO dangerous, but there's quite a large mating area between the barrel and the metal tip so I wondered about metal expansion and the potential for cracking if the barrel and extension want to expand at different rates. I was also curious as to how the drilled extension portion would effect the physics of the gas expansion at the barrel tip and if the standard, unhardened steel portion could actually withstand the pressures of sustained use.
Thanks,
-Doc
