    80% lower ?

So if one was to take a little too much from the pocket area where the rear take down pin log fits, would using the aluminum soldering/brazing rods to build the area back up actually hurt the lower with the heat required?

    Thanks,

Can you show us where through a pic? You might not even need to add metal, since some parts are low stress

Need a picture. It would be hard to cut too much from that area. Unless you broke through the outside of the lower how is function affected?

If it's a forged 7075 lower like most are made from, it doesn't weld very well. You're likely to make a bigger mess. As long as you didn't blow completely through, you should be okay. Like others have said most areas of the lower are low stress.

I assume the upper is sloppy from side to side?

You would be better off using a shim and an accuwedge. That's not a heavy stress area.

            no pic ;-(

I don't have a pic, but I cut the pocket to .5175, should be .50 if I'm not mistaken, now I know that this is not a huge issue, it bugs me more than anything. When I place it on the upper there is some play left to right at the rear. I know I'm being anal, but I like to get things right, so this over cut just pisses me off.

an accuwedge would probably make it much tighter from side to side as well as up and down.

Just get some release agent on the upper and use some Acraglas to bed the upper in the Lower. Let dry and then remove upper. Just use a little Acraglas as it should not need much to fill that gap. Use a Release Agent though

Mud's got a good idea here. Lower's are just made of Alu and aren't a stressed part of the rifle. The accuwedge might give you enough to tighten up the lower/upper fit.

As for the brazing rod thing, what are you thinkin here? Are you going to use a Mapp torch or???
You might be able to fill the hole with a TIG and then redrill it. Would also be a giant hassle though.

Is it too big all the way around? If so, just cut a piece of steel shim stock to fit
in place, then use JB Weld to hold the patch in place.
What about the 19th? Can the Commerce Clause be used to make it illegal for voting women to buy shoes from another state?

That is what i would do except I use devcon steel epoxy for stuff like that. Either will work well. I bed the locking lug area on FAL rifles if they are too sloppy and move side to side.

                          thanks guys

I think I'll go the acraglass option, or a shim, something along those lines.
I just got sloppy on the final cut ;-( when milling it out.
