    Franken-AK Help...

So over the years I've gathered my fair share of random AK bits and pieces. I need help from you AK gurus on my quest for a Franken-AK build.
I have an almost complete Maadi parts kit less a barrel, however I also have an AMD folding stock that I would like to utilize. I realize that this will require a longer than normal muzzle break in order to keep the 30" oal but is it possible to mate the 2 different style of kits?
What type of barrel will I need, what type of receiver? Can I use a standard romy flat and dremel out the area for the folding stock on the rear? All thoughts, suggestions etc are welcome.

Your gonna need to measure your front trunion and order a barrel to fit. The rear trunion doesn't make a huge difference, and yes you will need to open up one side and the 2 holes in the bottom of the receiver to make that AMD rear work.

The Maddi Front trunnion will work with a Romanian barrel.
      Just ask Jerrick>>>http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=299714
How many inches will you need for the 30" OAL?
I needed almost 5" for my Yugo underfolder (25.5" folded without muzzle attachment), and although I tried a fake can I am much happier with a flash hider from Rick.
Fake can= Almost 6" or 5.5" when installed made of aluminum but heavy
Ricks longer brake required a washer to exceed the 30" OAL requirement (ended up 30 1/16") made of steel, serves a purpose (flash hiding) other than just length, and I was able to dremel a notch in the top to catch the detent in the FSB. Quality product.
My Yugo with Ricks hider installed:

      and with fake can:

An AMD 65 receiver or flat will work fine. You can use whatever front end/trunnion you like as the AKM front trunnions are pretty much all the same. If you want to use the standard fixed stock flat or NDS1 receiver, just make sure that the trunnion holes are not pre-drilled.

Here's a converted receiver. We just measured, aligned, and cut for the unique AMD 65 folding stock rear trunnion. Notice the rear trunnion holes are not predrilled. The AMD has a different rivet pattern.

So basically this Wasr10 Barrel would work with my Maadi?
            Apex AK Barrel

Since there are no muzzle threads thats one less compliance part I need correct?

just becuase its not threaded doesnt mean you need less compliance parts.. You still need to change out six parts....

A good idea on parts to swap out are the FCG (3 parts) The receiver (if you build it) Pistol grip, mag spring, mag follower, Also furniture.

                Yes, it will work.

To answer your second question, you still need to keep the foreign made and listed parts to 10 max.

What I meant was thats one less foreign made part I need to deal with. If I've got the compliance issue correct, its not so much a matter of changing 6 parts out, its a matter of not having more than 10 foreign made parts.

So because there isn't a muzzle device to contend with, its not a counted "evil" part. Hence, one less part to change.

                    Correct.
The deal is "No more than 10 imported"
My milled receiver re-weld build lacks a front trunnion since it's part of the receiver so it had 15 countable parts. I only needed 5 to be in compliance with 922(r) on that build. Same goes for your muzzle device.
