Before you do this yourself I would caution on cutting or changing the angle of the sear. If you over cut by even a small margin you will ened a replacement sear. They don't exactly grow on trees just yet but they are getting a little bit more common every month. Lot of guys shooting USPSA and IDPA have messed up their sears.

Dave Lawver over at Dave's Metal Works does an outstanding trigger job on the M&P. He can customize it to your specs as far as weight, overtravel, and reset. Its a lot of work for around a hundred dollars or so. If you are interested give him a call:

you know, you can save yourself work and worry...as well as shipping cost...by going to the Apex Tactical website and ordering his tool steel sear and striker block and installing them yourself.

there are a couple of threads going on in the "Handguns" section about folks using Apex parts on their M&Ps

+1 for Apex Tactical. Installing just the sear made a huge improvement in trigger feel. It dropped the weight from 7lbs 3oz to 5lbs 3oz on my .45 (according to a Lyman pull gauge). It also made the reset much more distinct.
