    is this authentic?

When I was in service I wass issued late 70th AKM, but I don't recall Izhmash arrow in triangle being this large. It might have a bit larger than the rest of lettering, but I don't think it was this huge. Is this authentic?

Are you thinking of buying that? 1977 was supposedly the last year they made the akm in Russia but they probably made them for other countries after.

I think it's authentic and it should be if it's Tantal of http://tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/ by looking at the other auctions and pics.

If you want to make a late 70s replica, there are Russian late 70's barrel parts just like in the auction available and you could use a romanian or egyptian kit for most of the parts.

IMO, I would only spend money like that on a Russian Type 1 or early Type 2 kit with Type 1 barrel. There's nothing special about an akm or ak74.

Yeah, that's "Tantal". Looks authentic, but way expensive.

Yep, it's Tantal. I think he talks about it on theakforum under the Russia subforum.

              $$$

If it is still there when I get back from Europe in July I might consider buying it. I hope it would go down in price by then as well. It just brings back a lot of memories (not all of them are good either) from my youth and my years of service for Bat'kivschyna/Rodina (Fatherland). I wish I could ship here my real toys from Ukraine. Those are worth drooling at.

Send Tantal a PM or email. He might drop the price. Please post pics of the toys to drool over. I'm sure some of us will do more than drool

That's the best reason to buy the kit. Maybe you can pm him on takf and work on the price.
I tried to win a 1977 underfolder kit a couple years back but didn't win. I saw the same kit for sale last month for sale again. So most of the guys that do have a Russian akm kit don't really want to get them built they're mostly holding on to them as investments. If you do get a akm kit you have to send it to someone like marshallarms thats built many russian kits so it does not devalue. Otherwise it's worth more as a parts kit.

                    "IF"

If, and thats a big "IF", I will ever get a hold of that, NOBODY will touch it but me... I was a USSR Army armourer after all... For now, I think it is about 1K overpriced.
