    Threading My Shotgun Barrel

I was wanting to know if it would be safe to thread my shotgun barrel on the exterior.

The reason for this is...I have only seen maybe 1 or 2 Shotgun Muzzle compensators / breaks out there. I was thinking of fashioning one myself it would probably end up being a flash suppressor style tapering from small to larger styled after the M2 style on AR type rifles.

    1. Would it be safe to thread the end of my barrel on the exterior?

    2. If I did would it be legal ?

    3. Are flash suppressors legal on shotguns ?

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

did you go through the flowchart? Did you answer all the questions? What was the end result of your trip through the flowchart with that shotgun with a threaded barrel? Did you ever get an "illegal" result, or did you finish the flowchart and get a "legal" result?

There's nothing on the shotgun flowchart about threaded barrels.

exactly. The shotgun flowchart does not ask about threaded barrels since they aren't a regulated feature. If it was legal without a threaded barrel, it would still be legal with a threaded barrel.

That's probably the simple answer he was looking for.

Just wanted to make sure there was no retarded unspoken garbage in the law that made it illegal. Uneducated LEO's might say I have an assault weapon based on some whim they have.....its not like they don't already.....as it is I carry a flowchart with me every time I take my CALIFORNIA LEGAL AR-15 to the range just to C.Y.A. Besides its not like CA DOJ has never made up a law which wasn't fully thought through.

BTW there was nothing in the flowchart about threaded barrels on shotguns so there was no answer whether the shotgun barrel modification was neither legal or illegal.

well, if a LEO wants to arrest you on a non-existant law, I doubt a flowchart that you provide is gonna change his mind.

BTW there was nothing in the flowchart about threaded barrels on shotguns so there was no answer whether the shotgun barrel modification was neither legal or illegal.
right, just like it doesn't ask about shotgun barrel shouds and the rifle AW chart doesn't ask about bayonet lugs. Those questions are not asked because those presence of those features are not illegal. Since they are not regulated, there is no need to ask a question about them.
