Yes, you will need to remove one of the rivets from the rear trunnion. Which AK type are you mounting the scope rail to? Tantal also has screw on type mounts by the way.

        AK 74.

Great! It's much easier to remove the rivet on the 74 because it's not the long rivet. Be sure to get the proper side rail for the AK 74 rear trunnion rivet pattern.

The rear rivet determines the proper placement of the scope rail. Using a set of calipers you can figure out where to drill the other two holes in the side of the receiver. Just measure from the top rail and make sure it's even from the top rail to the top of the scope rail all of the way down the length of the rail.

You will need a slightly longer rivet for the one rivet that is located at the rear trunnion's location. The other two you can use standard length. I know it's proper to rivet with the head inside of the receiver, but it's easier to figure out by riveting with the head on the outside for the two rivets on both ends. All you need is a flat surface to place under the head on the outside to flatten it.

No need. After the rivet is removed and the rail riveted on, just mask off everything except the scope rail and paint away. The rail will cover everything.

Here's a scope rail I installed on my Bulgarian AK 74. The two outer rivets (longer one on the right) were placed with the head outside of the receiver. A "bucking bar" (flat piece of metal) was placed under the rivet head. The bucking bar was thick enough to lift the rail off of the bottom to give clearance to flatten the head of the rivet. Then using my riveting jig, I just crushed like usual.

For the middle rivet. I placed the rivet with the head inside of the reciever and created a special bucking bar out of a GRADE 8 bolt. It was cut with a dremel until it was short enough to work and the diameter was small enough to fit inside of the round cut out.
