Anyone know of a professional and knowledgeable gunsmith in the Santa Barbara/LA/Pasadena area? I have a 1911 that I want to have some work done to it ex. new trigger, sear, hammer, bushing, and high rise beaver tail for starters. Thanks!

I've used, and can personally recommend Jim Hogue in Canoga Park, Alan Tanaka in Gardena, and Will O'hara in Corona.sigpic

Jim Hoag in Canoga Park is one of the best there is when it comes to 1911 work. The work he did for me on my 70's combat commander is nothing less than poetry in metal. Have him show you his custom beavertail grip. It is spelled Hoag - - not Hogue as in the grip maker. Two different folks. Jim is an old timer who shot with Col. Jeff Cooper and Jack Weaver, (guy who invented the two hand weaver stance) in the old days at Big Bear. Stop by his shop and ask him about the old matches. He will keep you interested for hours if you have the time.
His phone number is: 818 998-1510.Last edited by Dick Thomas; 04-03-2010, 8:37 PM.sigpicComment
