So Im a large handed gentlemen I thought I could put my old 30rnd mags to use sans bullet button by not using a pistol grip. I'd love to have a Skeletonized stock on my flat build, my fear is "someone" would missconstrue it as a pistol grip. Thoughts feedback and ideas would be appreciated.

It is considered a pistol grip by California law. You would need to fill in the grip area so your thumb cannot wrap around the grip. Or go MMG and a standard stock. So Im a large handed gentlemen I thought I could put my old 30rnd mags to use sans bullet button by not using a pistol grip. Q: For the OP, can you show us what kind of skeletonized grip you are were thinking about?
When I was researching the ability to use the ACE skeleton buttstock on my AR, I read specifically that "whether or not something is a pistol grip" applies specifically to a grip that one can use with your trigger hand.
In the case of the ACE Skeleton Buttstock, one could NOT grip the rear buttstock and actuate the trigger unless you had some crazy alien length fingers.

NOTE: IN this picture, the pistol grip is a seperate item that can be removed and independant of the skeleton stock in question.
After all
Well, according to 12276 a pistol grip is defined as: (d) "pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon” means a grip that allows for a pistol style grasp in which the web of the trigger hand (between the thumb and index finger) can be placed below the top of the exposed portion of the trigger while firing.
While the first part fits (it protrudes below the action of the weapon), unless you are an alien, you cannot grip the bottom part of the ACE Skeleton stock with your "trigger hand").
On the other hand, if you mean skeletonized like a dragunov (see this example), this would count as a grip so you would have to fill in the area behind the pistol grip area as SJGunguy mentioned.

In order for it to not classify as a pistol grip, the webbing between your thumb and index finger needs to be above an exposed portion of the trigger when holding the rifle.Comment

I will post pics as soon as i can of my current stock but its a Modified Poly Tech Mak 90 stock i just cut off the pistol grip and rounded it so it fits nicely in my hand but i have a Savage 12BVSS that i love and was thinking of buying a used Savage stock and cutting it down to fit. http://www.flickr.com/photos/11093324@N05/4474272437/ the demensions seem very close."A Golf course is willful and deliberate misuse of a perfectly good rifle Range" Col. This is what you need to know^^^
That Savage doesn't fit the bill for a pistol grip as the web of the thumb is over the top of the exposed portion of the trigger.Comment
