    what kind of rifle?

I did the 15 minute trigger job today (http://www.sargenthome.com/15_Minute_AR_Trigger_Job.htm), but skipped cutting the hammer spring. What a surprise it was, the feel is a lot smoother. I did this to a new lower parts kit, so it will only get better over time with wear. Also, you're only risking ~2-5 dollars in case anything goes bad. Give it a try before throwing cash at a trigger, you may decide it's enough for your liking.
