i have a dpms upper with a canted sling stud. the upper has a dpms free float hand guard. the gas tube goes through what i think is hand guard mounting nut? i do not know how the free float hand guard is attached. i'm wondering if the hand guard can be simply rotated just a bit clockwise (looking from the barrel's end) without messing up the gas tube or if i need to disassemble the whole thing. anybody know where i can get assembly drawings/procedure for assembling the dpms upper/hand guard? does not appear to be available on the dpms website.

You can try backing the tube off the barrel nut, then using locktite and screwing it back on until the stud is straight, then let the locktite set.
Really the only way to fix that on the smooth free float on a DPMS is to get a new tube. The stud is installed after the tube is torqued on. So, if DPMS installed it crooked, it should be something they can fix under warranty
