Well from what I read in the first two pages, he used a different barrel and it didn't really seemed like he headspaced it. Also he used the wrong type of rivets because thats all he could find. He could of ordered the rivets off ak builder but..... I am sure as long as you use quality parts and CYA we should be good.

Holy Crap! He used brass rivets. No wonder the front trunnion moved on him. Those rivets just sheared off.

Wow. Pop rivets on an AK. First I've heard of it. I can't think of anything worse than that regarding AK building. He's glad someone didn't get hurt. Not only would he have gotten sued, that would make builders look bad.

I guess you gotta spend that extra couple of dollars! Seriously when building an ak you can really go cheap on the important thing like rivets. They actually hold your ak together. Especially when the cost difference isn't even huge. If you are that broke and can't afford the right equipment... you are asking for trouble.

The guy is really lucky to not have blinded himself and not caused other serious injuries. The aluminum pop rivets and oversize holes in the front of the receiver / trunnion coupled with head space issues doomed him.
