    Shotgun to Doubles rifle

I have a side by side that was "made" into a coach gun and can't find barrels for it (Stevens 311E). I thought it would be neat to use it for a .45-70 build any ideas or thoughts??

I have toyed with that idea for many years -- I have even kept an old N R Davis 12ga double in the project box for the attenpt.
I think someone here did the deed or perhaps it was on cast boolits site.
I always thought the easiest way would be to sleeve the old barrels with a couple of 45-70 blanks from numrich - This may result in a rather heavy front end :-)
I recently acquired a 12ga to 38/55 adapter unit -- looks like a 12ga cartridge and has a cone nut at the end of the barrel portion to hold the unit in the 12 ga barrel.
The "barrel" is only about 5/8" diameter and 30 1/2" long so will fit a 30" barrel. It could be cut and rethreaded for a shorter barrel.
I have not yet fired it so can not attest to accuracy. I do not have high hopes for much precision as the "barrel" is so thin and unsupported from breech to crown.

If i could find a complete set of barrels i would keep it as a 12Ga, but it was shortened to 20" years ago.... .45-70 barrel blanks huh...
