    Any 22/45 experts out there?

Because I need one right about now. I'm having some major headaches with my Mk III 22/45 and I am not sure what to do with it.

My basic problem is this: the gun will not fire. I can pull the trigger all the way back, but I don't hear the click I would in a normal dry fire.

It gets more interesting though: the 22/45 is not stock, it has just been very heavily modded. Things I've done to it:

    1) The magazine disconnect has been disabled via a replacement bushing. I don't think this is the cause of the problem, as this is the first mod I did and the gun worked fine after just that one change.

    2) A volquartsen accurizing kit has been installed. This consists of a: a hammer, a trigger, a sear, a trigger plunger and a trigger spring. Installation went without a single hitch.

    3) I (accidentally) did a slingshot mod when the detent ball and spring fell out. I didn't notice it until after the whole thing was back together

    4) The slide and bolt have been cerakoted (professionally). I don't think this had anything to do with it though.

    5) Aftermarket grips (that require drilling into the frame) have been installed. Again, I don't think it has anything to do with my problems, but hey, you never know.

Interestingly enough, when I first did the trigger disconnect mod, magazines would drop free from the frame when ejected. Now they do not.

There's a catch 22 involved here also.... taking the 22/45 down again requires dry firing it.... but I can't dry fire it. So it's stuck.

Anyone know what to make of all this madness? Or am I *%#&$#%? If I am ^$&%$%##, can anyone recommend a good gunsmith in the Bay Area who might be willing to help?

    Thanks!

I think the bolt lock/stop has a detent ball and spring setup and you have to physically push down on the bolt release to get the bolt to drop. You cannot just pull back on the bolt......unless you remove the detent ball and spring from the release.

could be that the vq trigger isnt adjusted properly and isnt allowing it to set/reset..... ease off the pretravel screw and see if that works.

Are you sure the safety is in the F rather than the S position?

Long story short... the slingshot mod was behind it. I'm not entirely sure how it works, but sheldon has the gist of it right I think. I found that pulling the trigger allowed the mainspring housing latch to open, even though it did not fire. Taking the gun down and testing the volquartsen kit piece by piece, nothing worked. I put the detent ball and spring back in and, bam, it works again. Dunno why the slingshot mod made my gun stop working entirely, that's a whole other subject all together
