No scratch lower assembly

A can of "Plasti Dip" (Harbor Freight $7.99) and a pair of vice grips (Harbor freight $3.99) is a lot less painful than repairing a scratch.
I made these after scratching up one of my lowers. I have used them on 3 other lowers and have had NO SCRATCHES.
Not a bad idea if you want to make a set of dedicated, non scratching Vice Grips.
I did 3 coats of the goo on these.

Hmm 5 builds now total and no scratches. . . Minimal damage to the "Plasti-Kote"

What are you using vice grips for on an AR build? I'm not knocking it, just curious. I've always used my Craftsman wood vice and never had a problem.

I have never had the need to use a vice grip for lower assemblies.

In fact most of the parts can be installed bare handed except for the roll pins, which you use a roll pin punch and a mallet to install. I've done 10 lowers or so like this.

Am I missing something?

You can break the ears off of the trigger guard from the impact. Channel locks press the roll pins in eliminating the impact force.
