barrel refinish

Heya

I bought a used bolt rifle with the last 3-4 inches of barrel slightly rusted and with the finish rubbed off in that area. Would it be better to strip all of the barrel prior to refinishing or just past the messed up area? I have not decided what I am going to use yet.

you did not mention the condition of the remainder of the barrel.

I have done several guns, none completly stripped. All turned out great.
