AR problem ** Solved hopefully ***

I have been having a problem with one of my AR's. It's a stag lower w/ a CMMG 2-stage trigger, and an A2 stock. I has about 200 rounds through her, and has always worked great until 2 weeks ago when I noticed this problem. After I fire a round, it will load another round, but won't reset the trigger. Sometimes I can fire 2 rounds and then it will do this. I uninstalled the trigger assembly and reinstalled it, still have the same problem. If I pull back the charging handle an inch or so and release it, it works fine. I lubed it before I went to the range, so I know that is not the problem. I also swapped the upper to a different lower and it functioned fine, so the problem has to be in the lower. Could it be the buffer and/or buffer spring? Any other ideas?

I believe the problem may be in your trigger assembly. When the bolt carrier slides back it starts to reset your trigger hammer. I would tend to think that if it were a buffer/spring problem it wouldn't either (spring too hard) slide back far enough to grab another round, or (spring too soft) grab another round but not fully engage the bolt. I am NO gunsmith though.(This is just my .02 cents) I hope this helps you.

I thought that also, that is why I reinstalled it.

The bolt carrier will reset the trigger before stripping a round from the magazine, so i'm guessing your trigger assembly

Sounds like it's the trigger assembly. Have you tried swapping out the buffer spring or installing that trigger assembly on another lower?

I was reading on arfcom about a defective batch of CMMG 2-stage triggers. I called them and explained the problem. They are going to take care of it.
