Hey all,
I've had an original Ciener AR .22 conversion kit for some time, now. It's worked flawlessly in all the uppers I own, with the exception of my latest, an M16A1 retro surplus upper.
When a round is going forward into battery, the bolt seems to get hung up in the last millimeter, right when the extractor slides into the back of the groove in the chamber adapter. This happens with any brand of ammo, and never happens on ANY of my other uppers.
Without ammunition, the bolt seems to ride a bit rough at that point, but ONLY in that upper. Could my upper be squeezing the rails a bit? Could the chamber be slightly off-kilter? I even made sure that I'm using a non-notched hammer in my retro lower, but that hasn't made any difference.
I'm willing to write off this upper as a .22LR conversion platform, as it shoots .223 perfectly. However, I'd love to know if this is something that I can easily fix.
Thanks in advance,
Mike
