    Align scope

Hi, i bought a cheap 80$ scope for my rifle. The problem im having is that it came by its self with no rings attached. I bought some rings for the scope but im puzzled on the concept of aligning the cross hairs with the rifle, does somebody know how to align a scope to the rings? Thanks for the Help.

If you don't have or want to buy scope alignment rods or a similar tool, you can use a wooden dowel that is the same diameter as your rings to check alignment. Once the rings are installed, you should be able to slide the dowel into the rings without it binding. If it binds your alignment is off.

...then you can lap your rings with valve compound until you have even contact

...or let a gunsmith do it like i did

Don't know where you're at but if you're in SoCal and in or near L.A. you can come out to A Place to Shoot on the weekends and I'll mount it for you - mention you're Calguns and I'll waive the fee.
I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.

Somewhat off topic, but thanks for mentioning the range. I've been looking for someplace not too far away where I can sight in my .30-06 and .22 Hornet and that location looks ideal and the prices seem more than fair.

I'll be out there one day in the next couple of weeks!
