Marlin Model 60 Front sight screw broken

So I have a little 22 (marlin 60, the one with squirrels on it) that I have had since a kid and I decided to re-finish it for old time sake. I had the Gun Ceracoated but the problem is that they used a heat process when applying the finish which damaged all the small parts (screws etc). I was attaching the front sight and the screw snapped which left half the screw in the barrel.

Oh man I freaked out. I finally got it out (very carefully) but the problem is when I tried to re-install a new front sight screw the threads in the barrel were damaged and the screw is just a bit too small to fit.

I got some thread repair stuff on midway usa and it worked for a while bit it keeps coming loose.

What should I try next? JB Weld? any of you guys have any ideas?

Open the screw hole up the next size larger threads and use a larger screw.

Are you sure you used the right type of screw when you replaced the first broken one?
Guns use much finer threads than anything you find at the local hardware store.
