Best touch up paint pen for AR rails, barrel, mounts, etc?

tried to search, but did not find what I seek here with the search function. I am sure it is a dupe request.

Anyway, what is a good paint pen to touch up scratches on rails, a lower, mounts, barrel, etc?

I just had to modify a spare Aimpoint clone twist base to attach my real Aimpoint magnifier to it, so it is all ground down to the aluminum where I took the dremel to it. I would like a good legit paint pen to use - not a black permanent marker - and just have in my kit - to touch this up and make it black again.

How 'bout leaving the scratches on so it looks like the rifle...I don't know...has been used?

natural scratches are one thing I could maybe live with, ground down aluminum from my mod is something wholly different. and that was the point of the post

I dont baby my stuff: truck, car, bikes, chicks, nor guns.. but there is a time when I want to pep up the appearance.

Works really well on an AR's. They also make a gloss, but I have never used it.

          It's all character.

Clean rifles are rifles that aren't used. The idea of using a "touch up pen" is gay enough.

I once cut and grind a FSB so that it can fit inside a FF railed handguard.

I wasn't going to go whole 9 yards to duracoat just that 1 piece.... so I use one of these "touch up" pen to "paint" all the exposed metal, works like a champ....

whatever.. so using your logic, if it is clean it must not be used.

I ride a bike, practically for a living, about 10k miles per year, +20 races a year and race all over the world. I clean said bike every day or 2 - always clean. so, you would think it is not used if you pulled up next to me on your bike, and I would summarly rock your world on my "clean" "unused" bike.. baaa tard logic

That's cute. You have a bike. Schwinn or Huffy?

Give BC's Alumablack a try, it works really well especially for ARs.

Sharpie marker works great on aluminum parts.

I find it to be shiny as compared to the parts and not a great match. Part of it would depend on the location of the part as this one would be hidden IF the Aimpoint is attached but right in your face if not. I have Sharpie on it now, but it looks poopy.

BTW, the old Sharpie trick has long been used in cycling touch up bike parts as well.

thanks, Birchwood Casey stuff seems to come up often and it seems they make several options from matt to shiny

My Rudy's are old and beat up actually. Got dust & dirt from Iraq and Afghanistan on them.

Oh...and my car is pretty nice. Has less plastic than your pistol (percentage wise). I did notice that you do have pretty neutered AR's. Hmmm...guess I'm lucky that all my "beat up" ones don't need a bullet button/Prince/Monster Man/U-15 or other gay parts.

not a touch up pen but have yielded decent results using rustoleum bar bee que paint & rolling/rubbing paint on w/q tip
holds up to heat & is nearly flat black or duracoat looking in appearance

some places you can hardly notice it's been touched up
