    AMD-65 sling mount...

I'm doing another AMD 65 and wondered how anybody else was attaching the sling loop to the receiver. The original receiver stub I have has the ears spread out inside and what, spot welded? The last one I did I couldn't get the ears spread like that and eventually broke one off trying and finally tack welded it in place on the inside of the receiver. Any experience with this?

Also, I had an extended muzzle brake to use on the last one but need to decide what to do on this one. I see a cheap 2 inch barrel extension and then I think Tapco or somebody also sells an extended muzzle brake.

I stocked up when prices were high. Guns are better than money. I consider myself an optimist but I fully expect drastic inflation. I don't want to have money in the bank if it takes a sudden drop in purchasing power.

For looks, I like both the Tapco MB and the MB AK-Builder is selling. Both look better then adding the extention between the muzzle and the short AMD-65 muzzle brake. I think Bigthaiboy was successful in installing the sling loop. I didn't even want to figure it out and just left it alone.

you can use a standard #10 X 32 sling loop threaded into the rear trunnion. of course this will cause the rifle to explode.

Thanks for the info on the muzzle brakes, I just got one included in my latest order from Curtiss. On the AMD 65 I just built I added the sling loop but I wasn't able to bend the ears on the inside the way they are on my original receiver stub. I assume there were all kinds of tools and fixtures used in building the original rifles. I'd love to see some of that stuff. I've got another kit and I'm going to get a little creative with it. I'll post pics and expose myself to criticism for not keeping it more original in appearance.

Bob, I'm not an "ubber" AK purist, so post away.

Another option for the AMD-65 is to build it on an NDS-1, NDS-3, or "fixed stock" flat. Then use a Romanian/E. German type folding stock. Those AMD kits are versatile.

I've love to see the sling loop install method as well. CSACANNONEER broke a few in his attempts. Maybe cut in in half, insert it into the sling loop slot in the receiver and re-weld together.
