    ROOKIE MISTAKE!

This is my first AR build and I decided to replace my A2 stock with a collapsable CAA stock. And of course, I lose the rear takedown detent spring and pin. Yup, the one thing every forum says to watch out for, I lose. So if anyone has a spare pin and spring and would like to mail it to me, I'll gladly pay for shipping.

    thanks

No good. First thing I'd look into is buying the rear takedown detent mod. Its awesome and only costs a few bucks. That link is here: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=145710

It'll keep you from losing them over and over. I know there are ways that you can do it without losing it but I take my buttstocks off enough to want the mod so thats just what I prefer. Other people disagree but it works great for all of us using it. PM me for more details on how not to mess up the mod itself as I think I have some pretty good insight on it. As far as springs go, midwayusa.com has them really cheap and they will likely get to you as fast as a spring from another calgunner but this way you can order them in 4 or 5 of them so you can have them on hand later on. I ordered a whole slough of parts from them for this very reason and have tons of detents, springs, and misc. things that I could potentially lose laying around for bad days. I'd grab it from them instead just to have some handy. Anyway, good luck and i'm sure you'll grab one from someone here or midway. If you can't find one PM me and I'll get one out to you but honestly I do recommend midway or brownells so that if it happens again you have some on hand.

See the upper right corner of your post? No location. You can fix that.

While I've given away enough parts for whatever and don't mind doing so, I think it's a bit forward for a newbie with 2 posts to start his CalGuns career in such a manner. JMHO.

You gotta admit though, "hey i'm new and did exactly what everybody warned me about, and now I need help" is comical.
But yeah, I kinda agree. I'm the kind of guy to reach out and help newb's.
But I build AK's and thats what I have spares for.

hey sorry about the rude intro. I've been reading on this site for about a 3months now since deciding to build my first Cali AR. Its an awaking reading up on the "how to's" and seeing the pics for explanation and then actually going hands on with the equipment! Just when you think you know it all from doing the research, reality sets it! Just recently decided to join to soak up some of this forums knowledge! I'm in Whittier for those interested.

Moonami, one is cominatcha in the mail right now! Don't worry about it boys I've got plenty of extras. Whenever I place a midway order I usually order 5 or 10 dollars worth of small parts like detents and things that I potentially lose.
