1911-bent cases

OK so I have a new to me 70 series Colt this gun is in close to new condition former owner said he only fired it a few times and the rest it sat in his safe, I have been shooting it quite a bit and noticed right away that the spent cases are being crushed when ejected, is this a problem other then when I go to reload them?

Re-tune or replace the extractor. Worst case; flare the ejection port.

I prefer to start with a Commander ejector and shorten it at the front as needed to time the empty case ejection correctly.
Almost all newer 1911 models have ejection ports that are larger than the original design.
In the original design, there was no concern about the ejected case condition, as soldiers would not be reloading ammo in the field.
