Stripping a barrel

I am building my first AK47, and was wondering what the best way to get the paint off was. I would rather not contaminate my AO media, but if that is the best way so be it.

If you don't want to put it in a cabinet, you could buy a $12 gravity fed gun from harbor freight and some cheap meadia. Or, you could spend a bit more time and scrub it off.

The paint on a Bulgarian 74 is pretty damn thick. As long as you have a good blast cabinet it can come off easily. It's a little tough with my cheap HF cabinet but it gets the job done. Slowly but surely. I also soak it in Acetone overnight before I blast it. Seems to get all the crud off and also eats away some of the paint. Makes it a little easier.
