floating handguards on Spikes .22

So, I'm looking for opinions here:

I just got a spikes dedicated .22 upper (for a super awesome price I might add)
Anyway, it's a classic m4 style, with the delta ring and plastic handguards.

I'm considering going tacti-cool/mall ninja with it, and putting a YHM spectre length rail on.

I've eye'd the videos and how-tos online, have access to the tools, and don't have to fiddle with a gas tube.

Question:
Should I do this myself, or get someone experienced to do it for me, or at least help me?

The goal is to have something similar to this. (but with a legal length barrel)
