Replace front sight on Stag 2T AR-15

    Hey All,

This is a pretty basic question. I am looking to get a Stag 2T AR-15 and I'd like to replace the standard post front sight with a flip-up sight. I'm interested to know what all needs to be done to replace it so that the gas-block, etc. all fits together.

Here's the link to the rifle I'm interested in:

Could I just remove the front stock front sight and replace with this gas block http://www.stagarms.com/product_info...roducts_id=270 and then put the flip up sight on top of the gas block? How hard is it to remove the stock front sight/gas block?

    Thanks for any advice!

This one covers the subject of adding a free float handguard but it fully cover removal and replacement of a front sight in the process

        Here you go.

        Install freefloat handguard

If you're in the Stockton/Sac. area, I can do the work for a small fee

That's one option, though I would recommend you also look at the YHM barrel mount flip-up front sights that also serve as a gas block.

I know what you re saying. But the reason to get YHM products is b/c they are decent quality at a good price. once it starts to get that high you might as well go with troy buis. The op doesn't seem to be in a rush so he might be able to wait. Me on the other hand I am NEEDY

My front sight was a PITA. Look around the web there are some good tutorials. and AR15barrels has given some good advice on other threads about removing pins. If you don't think you can do it go to a smith like I should have done

Stag will install the railed gas block at the factory for an extra 20 bucks.
I ordered that gas block with my 2ht and eventually removed it and went with a Daniel Defense setup.

Word of warning on Stag taper pins, they come out from the shooter's left instead of like nearly every other manufacturer. And the ones I drove out of my 2HT didn't seem that difficult to remove.

I have another question. What causes the difference in configuration between the two rifles in the links below? The Stag 2T's forearm guard is flush against the receiver. The Rock River Elite has a spacer visible between the forearm guard and the receiver. Both are free float guards. Thanks!

Those are completely different handguard systems.
That's not a spacer, that's the lock ring that holds the rail to the barrel nut.
On the Stag, the rail just grips around a stock barrel nut.
The RRA style handguard is more solid, but has the space.
The Stag handguard looks nicer, but is a less solid design.
