Super tight fire / safe selector switch

I had JP install a single stage trigger on my RRA lower, and while I was ay it i figured, i'd just go ahead and let them install a entire LPK.

the fire/safe slector is tight to the point that i can move it with a flick of my thumb. it stops about half way between fire and safe. i have to muscle it the rest of the way - no way i can move from fire to safe while the weapon is shouldered

anyone else experience that ? suggestions ? can i remove the selector switch without disassembling any thing else?

If you remove the grip, the selector detent spring will be freed, the detent will fall out and you can simply remove the selector (with the hammer back, or "cocked").

Make sure the detent spring is seated in the grip completely, and that it's not bent. Some aftermarket grips have a selector spring hole that is not deep enough, or the spring fits too tight (not allowing it to compress properly).

If the spring slides in and out of the hole in the grip(with ease), you can either drill the hole a little deeper, or trim some coils off of the spring. Whatever you choose to do Make small adjustments! Trim 1(one) coil at a time, or lightly drill the hole. If you drill/cut too much, you'll need a new grip/spring. Not the end of the world, but just a PITA.

Also check the detent spring hole alignment between the hole in the receiver, and the hole in the grip. I just had to wallow out the grip hole in my MIAD for use on my AR10, because the holes were slightly off.

The spring might be bound up- not miving freely in the grip. Check that first.
