    AK Barrel issue

Is it normal for when putting a round into the chamber manually for the cartridge to not want to go in all the way? I would say less than a quarter inch sticks out, but when the bolt is slammed shut it enters the chamber?

Is this a problem? How can I fix it?

Is this a home build? If so what kind of rifle is it and did you head space it properly?

      All parts are matching

All rounds do it. I have only used snap caps though. I fitted a live round in there when all parts were out though and didnt fit in all the way either

Didnt park it, but just ran a cleaning rod through it on both sides and from what I can tell nothing is blocking the round.

From looking at the wear on the Snap Cap it looks like its wearing where the casing tapers out.

Oh yeah its a home build but I heard head-spacing was not an issue because I used the same barrel and front trunnion.

visually inspect the inside of the barrel. make sure nothing is lodged, maybe some harden grim.

just ran a rod through the barrel chamber and nothing is in there. Pretty clean.

The rifle functions fine when I cycle rounds through it. The bolt slamming forward pushes the round the rest of the way in the barrel and ejects fine too.

I just dont want this gun blowing up in my face

You need to use a proper headspace gauge. Ask around maybe somebody down there has one you could use.
How much pressure does it take to lock up?

69MACH1 I just checked one of my Saiga's and it's pretty close to what that looks like. What do you think?
                I think it's OK.

It locks up when the bolt is slammed forward. It has supposedly been headspaced by a gunsmith because my kit came with a new barrel.

I was reading on headspace issues and someone said that its better to have it too tight then have it not tight enough. I just want to make sure everything is cool before I shoot it.

You know it's not supposed to go all of the way into the chamber, correct? When fully seated, a live round will stick out about .13 inches. Basically the the round will go in all of the way in up to it's base, and leave the rim (really not a rim) exposed. If it's more then that, you may have something in the chamber.

Well he's using a snap cap, so I wouldn't know. I'm breaking out the camera now...

Yeah dont want to use live ammo till I am at the range. As you can tell in the pictures the round seats in about 95% of the way.

Pull the firing pin, thats what I did for my home builds. That way I could check all of my mags for proper feeding.

How? There's nothing to hit the primer. I must have cycled 200 rounds through 2 rifles with 30 mags.

The only way it could slamfire is if there was a chunk of metal there. Make sure the bolt face is clean and let er' fly.
