    Parkerizing solution

I want to prep some fresh manganese solution for a build party Sunday, is there a problem cooking it in an aluminum pot?

    Thanks

    Parkerizing eats aluminum.
Work really fast before your pot dissappears!

Glass, plastic or stainless steel are what you need to be using.

Will the aluminum affect the solution in any adverse way? I plan on using my stainless tank for the actual parking, but would like to pre condition the solution before hand in one bigger batch to save time at the BP.

what are you doing to precondition the solution? I didn't think it was necessary to do anything to the solution other than to heat up the phosphoric acid and add in the zinc or manganese.
If you use an Al container, the phosphoric acid will react with the Al to produce aluminum phosphate. I don't have my chemistry handbook available so maybe someone with the electrochemical series tables handy can confirm.

I used a steel can just in case. The directions say to condition it with a piece of steelwool for 30 minutes. Mellows it out I think, just following directions. Now it's ready to go for the build party tomorrow
