I am not a gunsmith bla bla bla ... this is just for fun only bla bla bla ... the warranty will be void bla bla bla ... you will be responsible for what you change on your gun bla bla bla ...
I had NIB CA version Ruger Max-9, this pistol does NOT build like Ruger Mark 1-4, it make sound click click click when you shake it, heck, the same price ($350) SD9VE is built better. This pistol makes me never want to buy Ruger gun again.
Oh well time to play around with this Ruger Max-9. The NIB Ruget Max-9 trigger out the box is =~ 6#, for the guy grew up with 1911, 3.5# is the standard trigger pull then this 6# is not acceptable. I installed the Mcarbo spring set and polished all of the trigger related moving parts, the trigger pull =~ 5#, still not acceptable.
I looked around my gun parts box and found the Glock Striker (Firing Pin) Spring Sets that I bought on Ebay, those are: 4#, 4.5#, 5# spring sets made by CDS-Continental Defense System. I installed the 4# spring on my Glock long time ago, I only have 4.5# and 5# springs. I installed 4.5# and then 5# spring on the Max-9, the trigger pull for both spring measure =~ 4# closed to 3.5#. I installed the 5# spring on the Max-9 to prevent the light strike.
Range test two times, first time 200 rds, NO light strike. Second time 100rds NO light strike. All 300 rds 9mm are my reload. Here the info of my 9mm reload just incase:
- Brass, all brands pick up at the range.
- Bullet, 115 gn, Xtreme Plated RN.
- Primer: GINEX (an import brand and it works).
- Powder: 3.9 gn Titegroup.
- AOL: 1.125
Edit : I removed the Magazine Disconnect from the Max-9.
Just hope that Mcarbo, read this thread and include the 5# striker spring on their spring set.
