considering an AK build

I was in starting a 10 day wait for my glock 19c and saw a stack of AK recievers for 99.00. I think I'm going to pick one up when I pick up my 19c. I am an AK noob and need a little direction, I saw a couple yugo kits for reasonible prices, will that work with a stamped reciever or does it have to be milled? What should I look for and what all do I need to get? I'm looking to do a standard stock (non-folder) Just classic looking AK. Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

first ..were are you located at..

second.....get a matching romy not a virgin kit.
and a 100% reciver because you have seen them in stock.

as for kits....There are no more cheap ones.
I would generaly stay away from yugo milled kits because of the added work of trying to make it fit a stamped reciver.
Go with a stamped kit instead.
Yugos ingeneral have a bore condition of a Sewer PIPE !

Keep your ear to the ground for another BP and attend.

I'n in between san bernardino and riverside. The yugo kits I saw were on gunbroker, and look to be in a lot better condition than the romy kits. But then again I didn't see a shot of the bore either. They were going for 250.00 I will keep an eye out for a Romy kit though, and a build party. Oh and if interested I found the recievers at Bright Spot in Riverside. They had to have at least 10 sitting in the case.

Also Yugo AKs require their own specific bulged trunnion receiver, quite different from other AK receivers. Buy your AK parts kit first, then buy a receiver for it. Not the other way round. The choices of parts kits are getting smaller every day.

Watch out for some of the Yugo kits on Gunbroker, some are mix and match kits with a mixture of stamped receiver front ends and milled receiver rear ends.

Look for a Romanian G kit for your first build, then buy yourself a NDS-3 receiver.

You want help, you should've posted this a month ago when fredieusa still had kits for sale.
Get your kit first, then worry about the receiver. Find a FFL and send your
check off to Harlan at No Dak. They have a sale right now, NDS3's are 50$ shipped.

gunbroker is not the best place to start shopping. check the classifieds on the akfiles and other gun forums. kit prices have come down slightly from obamacrazy. probably best to find a nice g kit.
