    Parkerizing Questions

I have a bunch of small parts I want to parkerize, I'm going to set up a small tank for it.

I'm looking for a retro AR parkerizing color, is manganese without the black pre dip what I'm looking for?

Second question, I have 2 barrels I'm going to parkerize, one is chrome lined the other is nitrided. I don't believe either needs bore plugs. Can anyone confirm?

Generally, the Lauer manganese park I use is dark charcoal gray/almost black.

Chrome lined doesn't need plugs, but I thought nitrided won't parkerize at all-could be wrong since I never parked anything that was nitrided.

Colt and the ordinance dept used Zinc phosphate. I've never used Zinc phosphate so I can't say what a new park job would look like.

            Yes.
Manganese without blackener pre-dip comes out really nice for what you are doing.
The left one here is manganese without pre-blackener:

Make sure the nitrided one is chromoly and not stainless.
Next, plug bores and chambers on both of them while you are sandblasting them to protect the bore and chamber from getting blasted.
Pull the plugs out before parkerizing.

Black/Manganese park is reusable. So, you might want to get a container to put the solution and store it for next time.

Thanks for the info guys. The nitrided barrel is a ballistic Advantage 4150v.
