I'm building my first AR15 - 300 BLK and need your help to understand if I'm purchasing compatible/legal parts in California.

** I'm building a featured AR15 with a MagLock.

Here's the item I'm planning to purchase:

I need to make sure the barrel (16" Pistol length) is legal in CA? and also whether it's compatible with the Gas tube i copied above.


I also heard that Brownells has a high-quality barrel for 300 BLK.

Which barrel would you recommend?

Assuming you are building a rifle, you are good.
That gas tube will work with that barrel.
That barrel is 16" long so it's proper to use on a carbine/rifle build.

"pistol length" is a reference to the length of the gas system.

Why pistol length?

Pistol length is the most reliable gas system for a 300 blackout barrel.

By the time the bullet reaches where a carbine gas port is at, the pressure is bordering on being too low to cycle the action.
There are only a few powders/loads that will reliably make a carbine gassed 300 blackout cycle.
Almost any powder that is appropriate to the 300 blackout will cycle the action with a pistol gas port.
