OK ... picked up a XM4/727 clone , non F marked FSB , had to adj. it up out of the FSB housing so much I can see daylight between the base and the bottom of the post base , just want the post to sit whiten the housing ..what height would you suggest ?

(and no I don't have a tool to measure it)

sight in was 50yds , shot very well with good groups

    .030
    .040
    .060

A carbine height FSB is 0.040" higher than an A2 FSB.
You need a carbine height FSB.
Carbine FSB's commonly are marked with an F but the presence of non-presence of the F means little as there are people who will stamp an F on an A2 FSB just to make it easier to sell.

What matters is the actual height of the FSB which you can measure with a common dial caliper even with the FSB still pinned to the barrel.
