What would you guys recommend for lapping the slide and frame to smooth it out? Slide is rubber mallet tight to the frame.

400 grit Clover is where I start.
It will cut more clearance than 500 or 600 grit, but it won't take as long as the finer grits.
It you don't mind spending more time, just use 600 grit.
It will leave a tighter fit but expect it to take a lot more work before the slide will move freely.Randall Rausch
