I have one of those, bought from Harbor Freight many years ago. That is about all they are worth, mine was made in China. I also bought a large China made swivel vice and anvil, the thing cracked down one of the claws, had to throw it away.

    China steel is junk, imo.

I once complained about the low quality of Chinese steel to a person, apparently on the left... They got upset at my "prejudice".
The steel in China has high carbon levels in it. In order to make decent quality steel from it the expense and labor would be severe. So they don't do it. China is the largest importer or scrap steel from the U.S. ...They buy up all of our junk because it's easier, cheaper, faster, and produces better steel than what local raw material sources can offer.

So does that mean Chinese guns are crap also or do they have some sort of standard for that steel. I personally try to buy as little as I can made in china. Sometimes I dont have a choice, but if I have a choice in buying somethign made here or europe I rather pay a little more for the product than to buy chinese. If you buy used it doesnt matter the money stays here unless youre buying from a guy who is going back to china.

But yeah for the most part chinese steel products are crap. I dont like buying tools over and over.
