In all seriousness, sand paper and stones are for polishing, files are for material removal. As the resident gunsmith said, there is a myriad of papers, blocks, stones, files, grits, grit material, paper, cloth, PSA, hand, electric, etc. I generally just buy for the job at hand, and it builds up over years.

What you need depends on what you're doing. You'll probably end up with a tool chest full of different items for doing different things.

Trigger replacement is hardly descriptive; much different on, say, a semi-auto pistol compared to, say, a Remington 700.

And depend on the gun you may need reduce trigger pull weight set or reduce power springs from Mcarbo, Wolff and .....

For trigger jobs, I rarely/never used files, I used sand paper and stone.

die makers stones are great. DME brand. I have 220 to 600 grit EDM blue stones, a very hard and dense aluminum oxide.
I highly recommend you only buy what you need for a particular job as this will prevent wasting money on tools that you don't need.

I disagree with starting out with a Dremel or Foredom Flex Shaft.
More problems are caused by using this Devil's Tool than any other tool in a Bubba Tool Box.
It takes years of practice to use one properly and more to un-foul what you, and others, did while gaining such proficiency.
