Your “friend” didn’t cover up the area before pounding on it.
+1 on sight pusher for future guns.
For now, you can have it sanded down and cerakoted. That would help as a form of rust protection.

How to fix these gouges?

If you are that concerned. To do it right you would need to refinish the slide.Leave a comment:

Sometimes a sight pusher should have been used. I?m not entirely against those that use a punch and hammer but I won?t use them on my guns. If you?re concerned about rust lightly oil the marred areasLeave a comment:

Get a new slide and let a competent gunsmith install sight.
Saw 1 for sale on ebay for ~ $40
That was painful to see, I can fix almost anything but even I think it would be ugly after any attempt at repair.Leave a comment:

Thanks. Never have Ray Charles do your gunsmithing.
My concern is rust but it's been about 4 years without issue. I'll just shoot it. That's the cheapest option!Leave a comment:

Yep. Bubba done good. If it's just looks, get some sandpaper and a rust resistant paint, color match.... Won't be great, but good enough.Leave a comment:

damn bubba did a hella number! I would leave it alone and just shoot it.Leave a comment:

How to fix these gouges?
Hi everyone,
Hope this is the right forum for this.
A friend installed the sight on my CZ 75 SA. The sight did not go in easily and he ended up using a hammer and punch to get it in. As you can see, he missed a few times. I hate the way this looks and I'm wondering what my options for repairs are?
Is this a cerakote situation? File/sand/then coat?
CGW said they could help but I'd rather find a local shop if possible.
Appreciate any advice. Thanks!Tags: None
