Need help removing AR Safety Selector - Riverside County

Hello,
I am having trouble removing my safety selector in order to put in a drop in trigger system. Is there a recommended person I can go to for help in my area? I am around the Temecula area.

It's easy to remove. Just remove the grip. There will be a small spring on top of the grip along with a small detent pin. Once removed, the selector will slide out.

Yes. I have the grip removed and the detent is out.
I am guessing this has loctite of some kind. I can't unscrew the screws for the ambi safety selector in order to remove it out of the way to put the drop in trigger.

If they are loctited you will need to apply heat to the screws - do you have a soldering iron? Heat it until you smell the chemical or see smoke. You only need to remove the lever from one side, I would remove the right side lever.

Ya, now I understand your problem. Dealing with small screws with loctite can ruin your day. After adding fin grips to my AR's, ambi safety made life much easier. I didn't use loctite and it hasn't been a problem. As previous poster stated, you need to add heat and don't slip with the screwdriver. And you only need to remove the lever on 1 side.

If you can't get it out with heat, the next solution is to drill out the screw and then replace the screw when you put it back together.
I can get that screw out and likely have replacement screws on hand as well.

I use a left hand drill bit of the body diameter of the screw with the part fixtured in the milling machine.
When the head breaks free, the screw should come spinning right out because the left hand drill bit is trying to unscrew it and the only thing stopping that from happening is the tension on the screw head.
Once the tension is released, the screw should come right out if there is no loctite.

I?ve used a soldering gun to heat the screw enough to get the loctite to break. It?s direct heat on the exact area. Worked well on a few small screw occasions.

But sounds like bubba might have got ahold of it already, and you?re reaching for drill bits. Consider using a Dremel to cut a slot in the screw head. Then get more heat on the screw. Use a flat head when heated. Impact screwdriver preferably.
